...raconte-moi la vie de tes soeurs actuellement.

  1856 - 2006 Témoignage
St Emilie received the call from God and she responded, likewise, wishing to follow in her footsteps, I heard and answered God's call by sacrificing my family and friends to carry out my mission.
In the beginning it was difficult to detach myself but with the help of God's grace and experiencing His presence I took to heart Emilies words "GO AND WITH WHAT YOU HAVE AND WILL RECEIVE DO ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN" This idea both encouraged and strengthened my desire to avail myself for my future mission.
I believe it is the same Lord who invited me to go to a country where there was great suffering. There was neither respect nor dignity for the human person and justice was none existent. Children died of hunger while others were deprived of education resulting in illiteracy all around. Women too had to work all day for very little remuneration.

I also have lived moments of violence when these poor creatures who are at the end of their tether, turned on those who had supported and fed them. For this reason at times I was unable to work or live in such insecure surroundings.I have also witnessed and lived through the cyclone of 2004 leaving in its wake, death and destruction.

During these two dreadful moments we felt God was in our midst supporting us, while the poor pleaded with us to stay with them. Of course we had to stay and start a new life." With God on our side who can be against us ?" Truly when we live and share our lives with the poorest of the poor we learn how to live in hope and fight for life.
Even when missionary life gets tough and one has to take risks this helps us to understand that life is meant to be shared especially where there is a lack of love, justice, hope and solidarity. My one desire was to be a witness of the Kingdom of God in their midst.
To day I would like to thank God for having called me to this missionary congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition and for having lived this experience with enthusiasm in offering myself for His greater glory.
Finally I ask the Lord through the intercession of St Emilie, to always help me to live my mission where He calls me, with the same courage and availability.
